Two weeks spent exploring the slickrock benches and verdant canyons of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument

We climbed up the slickrock bench and started at the top of Peek-A-Boo, working our way down to the big pour-off at the bottom that runs through a set of 4 complete arches and ends with a 10-foot scramble back to the floor of the main canyon.

  • If you're adept, you can crab 30 feet up the walls and pop out on the slickrock
  • Near the bottom of Spooky Gulch, where the walking is still relatively easy
  • Tight spot in the bottom of Spooky Gulch
The situation got much trickier trying to work our way up Spooky Gulch, with clearances so tight you had to suck in your gut to pass between the walls.  We bailed about a 1/3 of the way up...
